Buchanan County Commissioners have unanimously approved a new housing development near Mid-Buchanan School, despite public pushback and a recommendation for denial from the Planning and Zoning Board. Citing a need to address population decline and increase the tax base, the commissioners feel the project represents a significant growth opportunity for the county. The initial development will feature five high-value homes on two-acre lots, with the possibility of future expansion requiring another vote.
