The St. Joseph City Council has approved two more fee increases for the city’s landfill, effective in January 2026 and January 2027. According to Public Works Director Abe Forney, these increases are necessary to manage the overwhelming volume of trash, which surged after rates were lowered in 2018 to attract more haulers. The additional revenue will be used to hire staff, including an M con, and acquire equipment to handle the increased waste intake.
